Acca Dreamland: Big Wins from Football Accumulator Betting

Many football fans have placed a ten or 20-fold acca in the hope of landing a life-changing sum of money as the weekend’s results roll in.

Some people agonisingly miss out by one or two teams, while others get nowhere near the big payout.

However, for some lucky punters, it’s a different story. Join us in Acca dreamland as we reveal some of the biggest ever wins from football accumulator betting, ranging from a 50p stake that delivered over £10,000 in profit to a £1 wager that secured one lucky sports fan a return of more than £500,000.

October 2024: £10,339.61 from a 50p stake

As featured in Lancs Live, one lucky football fan bagged a £10,339.61 payout from a 50p accumulator at Ladbrokes. The acca had 37 legs and was described by a Ladbrokes spokesperson as “the biggest acca we’ve ever seen. At 20,678/1, and to the tune of just over £10,300 from a 50p stake, it will definitely go down as the best bet of the season.”

The punter didn’t pick any selections with odds higher than 3/4, so it was the sheer volume of selections that led to the incredible payout. Most of the selections were from women’s football, and the punter opted for over/under totals betting rather than picking the winner of each game. All in all, it’s the best bet we’ve seen.

August 2024: £2,833 from a £1 stake

Birmingham City fan Greg went for a 13-fold acca on the opening day of the 2024 football season, backing wins for the likes of Bristol Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

Betfred confirmed that his 13-fold acca came home after he placed it at his local bookmakers in Sheldon, just south of Birmingham city centre.

Commenting on the win, Greg plans to treat himself: “The winnings are in the bank but not for long as I fancy a cruise or a nice trip to Cornwall … and all it will have cost me is £1.”

February 2024: £129,142 from a £30 stake

In February 2024, a punter from Gerrard’s Cross had a Valentine’s Day to remember as their £30 accumulator returned just short of £130,000. The punter placed six bets, picking the winner and opting for both teams to score in games from the English Premier League, Ligue 1, and Serie A.

Coral confirmed the win, with a spokesman commenting: “With games spanning across three European countries, this is an impressive accumulator, not only to pick the winner of each match but also to predict that both teams would get on the scoresheet.”

October 2023: £264,172 from a £50 stake

As reported by the Daily Mail, a Betfair customer banked an incredible profit of over £250,000 after winning a 13-fold football accumulator in October 2023. The 13-fold acca was even more impressive when you realise that the punter predicted the correct score in numerous Premier League and Championship matches.

The odds – 5,274/1 – highlight just how unlikely the bet was to come in, and Ben Gibson’s late own goal for Norwich against Coventry City had the punter jumping for joy.

A Betfair spokesperson confirmed the bet and said: “It’s been a memorable day for one Betfair punter who has taken us to the absolute cleaners with a game-changing 13-fold, winning an incredible £264,000 … an 88th-minute equaliser for Coventry against Norwich City really rubbed the salt in our wounds, but that’s football, and from everyone at Betfair, we have to wish them a huge congratulations.”

October 2023: £106,159.40 from an £80 stake

Sports Bible picked up on the story of a sports fan who landed a life-changing six-figure win from a 25-fold acca in 2023. The punter, based in Sheffield, placed an £80 stake on numerous football markets to land a win of over £100,000.

A spokesperson from William Hill said: “Whether it was luck, judgment or a combination of the two, whenever a 25-fold accumulator comes off, it’s an amazing achievement, and this is definitely one of the most impressive wins we will see all season.”

May 2022: £157,865.59 from a 60p stake

With odds of 263,109/1, a football fan turned 60p into over £157,000 when their 16-team acca came home. A last-minute Wilf Zaha winner for Crystal Palace at Southampton secured the win, which saw the punter back 56 different teams to win and one to draw in the English Premier League and Championship.

Ladbrokes confirmed the remarkable win, as reported in the Sun, with a spokesperson commenting: “Our punter has played an absolute blinder here, correctly predicting the outcome of all 16 games in the top two tiers of English football on Saturday.”

May 2020: £20,000 from a 15p stake

Back in May 2020, a punter placed an audacious 15p accumulator at SkyBet. To us, it looks like a bet you might place when you have just 15p left in your account and want to empty it. Here are the four selections that returned the punter just over £20,000:

  • Derby v Brighton – both teams to score in both halves.
  • Doncaster v Crewe – both teams to score in both halves.
  • Luton v Northampton – both teams to score in both halves.
  • Notts County v Newport – both teams to score in both halves.

The bet was confirmed by SkyBet’s spokesperson Sandro Di Michele, who said: “Hats off to the punter, who must have been going wild as the drama unfolded at Doncaster to pull off one of the most remarkable wins we’ve ever seen. It’s certainly the biggest win we’ve witnessed from a 15p stake, and we’re just relieved that they didn’t have more money on it!”

November 2017: £574,278.41 from a £1 stake

One of the biggest football acca wins in recent memory came from a £1 stake, delivering a lucky woman more than half a million pounds that she gleefully collected from her local William Hill store, as reported by the Metro

Back in 2017, an unnamed woman from Leysdown-on-Sea placed a £1 bet on a 12-fold acca. She picked teams “she liked the sound of” with zero research. Most of the teams she picked were outsiders, resulting in one of the biggest acca wins that William Hill has ever seen.

Rupert Adams, a spokesperson for William Hill, said: “The payout in this case is absolutely fantastic. We wish them well. In my 15 years in the business working for William Hill, I have never encountered a bigger football win by a female punter for just a quid.”

Recap on Acca football betting

Football accumulator betting is popular among UK sports fans, but don’t get carried away with the odds. These wins are notable because they’re so unusual – you should always gamble responsibly and weigh up risk and reward when making your selections.

Still, you can take inspiration from these punters who have proven that the bookie doesn’t always win and that it’s possible to land a life-changing acca payout if luck is on your side.
